1. Hengqin Advanced Intelligent Computing Center
Profile: Jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Guangdong, Zhuhai, and Hengqin governments, the Hengqin Advanced Intelligent Computing Center is a key research result of CAS’ strategic pilot project – “Domestically-made Safe and Controllable Advanced Computer System.” The large-scale, independent, and controllable platform adopts Dawning Information Industry (Sugon)’s servers and AI accelerator cards (neural network chips) provided by Cambricon Technologies, possessing a stronger computing power than traditional CPU supercomputing centers. The center mainly provides intelligent computing software and hardware, resource sharing, cross-over research, centralized data storage and backup, and industrial innovation for governments, enterprises, and research institutes.

3. China (Hengqin) Scientific and Technological Entrepreneurship Competition
To enhance its innovation and development ability, Hengqin has decided to hold the global innovation and entrepreneurship competition once every year since 2018, with the focus on supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship teams with advanced innovation products, breakthrough in key technologies, and good industrialization prospect.
Application for the first competition began in June 2018, attracting 955 projects from the United States, UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore, the Chinese mainland as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. The projects cover the strategic emerging industries such as new-generation information technology, biomedicine, digital economy, new materials, and marine economy. A total of 10 winning projects were selected through on-site roadshow, oral defense, expert evaluation, and on-site scoring, including five new generation information technology, four biomedicine, and one new materials projects.
Registration for the second competition commenced in December 2019. To encourage the participation of Macao projects, an "exceptional channel" was set for separate ranking. A total of 942 projects were attracted, including 123 Macao projects. AkroStar-Tech R&D on advanced FinFET ("3D" transistors used in the design of modern processors) technology for high-speed interface chips won the grand prize and received a gratis R&D subsidy of 100 million yuan. Zhuhai Geehy Semiconductor’s project on domestic IoT chips and autonomous and controllable security chips earned the first prize of 50 million yuan.
