Looking to extend the festive cheer from the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday? Spend your weekend in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin! The inaugural Lusophone Cultural Festival will take place at the South Plaza of the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex from October 11 to October 12.

This carnival features four key elements: cultural stalls, song and dance performances, gourmet food, and games. It blends the exotic flavors of Portuguese-speaking countries and regions to create a unique entertainment experience that embodies the spirit of Hengqin and Macao, fostering a joyful holiday atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to dive into the fun at the Lusophone Cultural Festival!
Event Highlights:
The festival will showcase a special Lusophone Culture Zone with eight cultural stalls highlighting the characteristics of Portuguese-speaking countries and regions. These stalls will offer cultural and creative souvenirs, decorative crafts, handmade ceramics, crochet items, original jewelry, and Portuguese-inspired cultural stone items.
Over the two-day event, a continuous lineup of diverse performances will take the stage, featuring songs, dances, band acts, and solo performances. Eight performance groups from Portuguese-speaking countries and regions will present a variety of shows, including rock music, Fado, neo-soul, Capoeira, Brazilian Samba, traditional Portuguese dance, and Macanese Patuá music.
The carnival grounds will host ten special food stalls brimming with the flavors of Portuguese-speaking countries and regions, adding rich culinary aromas to the event. Offerings will include Portuguese chicken, Portuguese-style baked meat patties, Portuguese egg tarts, Brazilian grape juice, and more, allowing visitors to experience Portuguese cuisine and diverse tastes right in Hengqin.
Macanese Patuá cuisine celebrity chef Antonieta Manhão (Chef Neta) will be on-site to create the Lusophone Flavors Kitchen, showcasing her master-level culinary skills.
A "Street Alley Fun" game zone will also be set up, where visitors can participate in traditional Portuguese games such as the "Sack Race," "Spoon and Egg Race," "Big Feet Slippery Race," and "Table Football," ensuring endless fun for all!
Additionally, the "Love and Peace — Exhibition of Feng Zikai's Art" will be held at the Hengqin Culture & Art Complex from September 17 to November 21. This exhibition features 200 exemplary comic works by Feng Zikai, presented in four sections that multi-dimensionally display the poetry, humor, and philosophy of his comic art, comprehensively showcasing his artistic style and spiritual essence.
