On December 4, the first point-to-point direct cross-border medical rescue case between the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Macao was carried out.

At approximately 10:00 AM on December 4, an ambulance transporting a critically ill patient departed from the Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário (CHCSJ) in Macao. It swiftly passed through the Hengqin Port and safely transferred the patient to the Hengqin Hospital of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University for treatment. A "green lifeline" connecting Hengqin and Macao has once again set a new standard for rescue speed.

This transfer marks the first point-to-point direct cross-border medical rescue case since the signing of a memorandum of cooperation on cross-border ambulance transfers between Hengqin and Macao in August this year.

Upon receiving the notification, the Hengqin Border Inspection Station immediately activated the emergency channel. By employing a protocol featuring advance filing, simplified inspection, no disembarkation throughout the process, and emergency priority passage, the ambulance cleared customs in seconds without needing to stop or move the patient, securing precious time for the life-saving mission.

From institutional coordination to practical collaboration, the cross-border medical cooperation between Hengqin and Macao safeguards the life and health of residents. “The Hengqin Border Inspection Station will continue to refine the cross-border transfer procedures and enhance support capabilities, ensuring that the 'life channel' becomes more efficient and reliable," said Zeng Xiang, Deputy Station Head of the Hengqin Border Inspection Station.
