Macao Polytechnic University and Macao University of Tourism signed land-use agreements with the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zonein Hengqin on August 31, paving the way for all three of Macao’s public universities to establish a permanent presence on the island.
The two universities will jointly develop a campus covering approximately 459,200 square meters, with a total floor area of around 928,000 square meters. Facilities will include teaching and laboratory buildings, a library, student and staff accommodation and sports facilities.
Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the campus largely to be completed by 2030. Planned programs include environmental intelligence, smart healthcare, smart tourism and hospitality, international exhibitions and event management, China-Portuguese business and trade, as well as interdisciplinary programs combining digital technologies with other fields.
