2026 marks the fifth anniversary of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. On October 15, a Chinese, English and Portuguese electronic brochure titled Appealing Hengqin: Macao’s New Space and a Modern Arcadia (hereinafter referred to as Appealing Hengqin) was officially launched. It was jointly compiled by the Administration and Legal Bureau of the Cooperation Zone and China Daily. The brochure is designed to support outreach, investment promotion, and cultural exchange with Portuguese-speaking countries and the broader global audience.

The brochure is organized into five sections: Industries, Opening-up, Talent, Livelihood and Integration, and Ecological and Cultural Tourism. It introduces the Cooperation Zone’s strategic positioning, governance model and development blueprint, while presenting its achievements over the past five years under the “Macao + Hengqin” cooperation and the emerging opportunities in its second phase of development.

The brochure introduces policy innovations, including the “dual 15 percent” preferential tax policies and the two-line customs-management policy, the open cooperation platform for Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries, and global talent attraction and the extension of universities in Macao to Hengqin.

The brochure focuses on enterprises and individuals rooted in Hengqin, including companies exploring new paths for domestic chips via open-source computing power, a locally incubated enterprise engaged in sci-tech innovation with surgical robots, as well as researchers, Macao entrepreneurs and cross-border residents.

The brochure opens each chapter with original hand-drawn illustrations, combining real-life photos, individual stories and infographics. The peach blossom motif runs throughout its visual design, symbolizing the aspiration to build an ideal community in Hengqin.
