The Hengqin Port and comprehensive traffic hub development project has won the National Quality Engineering Gold Award on October 17, announced by the China Association of Construction Enterprise Management (CACEM).
The National Quality Engineering Gold Award is the highest honor of the National Quality Engineering Award, China’s earliest-established and highest-standard national quality award for engineering construction.
Located in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Hengqin Port covers 1.31 million square meters and functions in three key areas: customs clearance, integrated transport hub, and commercial projects. As a national Category-1 port, it can handle 220,000 passengers and 16,000 vehicles per day.
Under the “Joint Inspection & One-Time Release” mode, passengers only need to queue and have their documents examined once when crossing the border between Zhuhai and Macao.
The project has received 11 design awards, four national engineering quality awards, and 18 science and technology awards, and has completed 10 scientific and technological achievement appraisals, setting a benchmark for construction in Hengqin with its solid quality.
