The National Immigration Administration (NIA), on November 29, announced new travel policies for residents of Guangdong Province, effective January 1, 2025, allowing for expanded travel options between Guangdong cities and Hong Kong or Macao.

Zhuhai residents with household registration can apply for a "one trip per week" permit to visit Macao, which allows a maximum stay of seven days per visit. Note that Zhuhai residents holding only a residence permit are not eligible for this policy.

Residents and residence permit holders in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin can apply for a "multiple-entry" permit to Macao. This allows unlimited trips within a year, with a maximum stay of seven days per visit.

Unlike "multiple-entry visas for Macao-Hengqin tour groups," which require travels through designated agencies and have stricter rules on intervals between visits, these individual travel permits are more flexible and require only one annual application.

Meanwhile, starting from December 1, 2024, Shenzhen residents and residence permit holders can apply for a "multiple-entry" permit to Hong Kong, enabling unlimited visits within a year, with each stay capped at seven days.

The detailed fee structure for the new permits will be announced before the policy takes effect on January 1, 2025.
