The third edition of Hengqin Nature Week concluded on March 26 with an awards ceremony at Hengqin National Wetland Park. Wang Yun, Deputy Director of the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and Kuok Keng Man, the President of the General Assembly of the Photographic Society of Macao, attended the event and presented awards to the winners of the nature photography competition.

Launched on March 5, the competition received an overwhelming response from photography enthusiasts in both Guangdong and Macao, with over 1,300 images submitted across 500 entries. A panel of experts selected winners for 27 awards, including first, second, and third prizes, as well as excellence and online popularity awards.

This year’s Nature Week was themed around plant conservation, aligning with key ecological observances such as China’s Tree Planting Day, the International Day of Forests, and Guangdong’s Bird-Loving Week. In collaboration with Macao’s Green Week, the event featured over 60 activities across seven themes, including tree planting, ancient tree conservation, and nature photography. The total number of visits across all activities exceeded 70,000, with Macao residents accounting for roughly one-third.

The Urban Planning and Construction Bureau stated that Hengqin plans to plant 100,000 trees this year as part of ongoing efforts to enhance ecological protection and biodiversity across the region.
