On April 14, over 30 journalists from central media outlets stationed in Guangdong and from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-MacaoGreater Bay Area visited the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to tour the upgraded venue and gain first-hand insight into the ongoing preparations.

The center began its renovation in August last year, with the first phase—focused on facility upgrades—completed and inspected in February. Enhancements include the installation of air conditioning in the indoor center court and the addition of four new membrane canopies to the outdoor training courts.

A second phase, involving upgrades to the security system, began in April and is expected to be completed by July, said Li Xuequan, head of the tennis center renovation project.

To accommodate the anticipated influx of spectators, temporary parking facilities are being constructed around the venue, supplementing the existing approximate 100 parking spaces.

China's 15th National Games will be held from November 9 to 21, 2025, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Among the star athletes expected to compete in Hengqin are Paris Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen, as well as top-ranked WTA players Wang Xinyu and Yuan Yue.

Hengqin International Tennis Center has previously hosted prestigious tournaments such as the Zhuhai Championships and the WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai. The venue features a 5,000-seat center court, a 1,500-seat match court, four additional match courts with 250 seats each, and 12 outdoor training courts. Additional amenities include VIP suites, a gym, conference rooms, pressrooms, dining areas, and lounges.
