Industry Overview
By the end of November 2024, there were 238 enterprises in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao. The "Macao Supervision + Hengqin Production" mode has been put into practice, and Macao's first pharmaceutical product to be outsourced overseas has completed production in the Cooperation Zone and entered the market in Macao, which is an example of Macao products expanding their industrial capacity in the Cooperation Zone. Traditional Chinese medicine products, food products and supplements produced in the Cooperation Zone and approved and registered in Macao are encouraged to use the "Products Inspected by Macao", "Production Supervised by Macao" and "Designed by Macao" labels. Relying on a public service platform for overseas registration of traditional Chinese medicine products, a total of thirteen products have been successfully registered in Mozambique, and ten products have obtained registration and marketing authorisation for Chinese patent medicines in Brazil.
Development Outlook
There are nearly 400 biomedical and big health enterprises in the Cooperation Zone, including True Health (Guangdong Hengqin) Medical Technology Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Hanglok-Tech Co., Ltd., The United Bio-Technology (Hengqin) Co., Ltd., and Jiaheng (Hengqin, Zhuhai) Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. A number of key institutions, such as the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao, the Chinese Medicine Guangdong Laboratory, and the industry-academia-research demonstration bases of the University of Macau and the Macau University of Science and Technology, have been successively established.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao
Launched in April 2011 in Hengqin, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (GMTCM Park) was the first project implemented under the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao. Covering an area of 500,000 square metres with a planned construction area of 1.35 million square metres, the GMTCM Park has attracted an investment of RMB 8 billion. It is now home to a variety of facilities, including hotels, a commercial street, a museum, office buildings, drug production and testing centres, and extraction facilities. By the end of November 2024, the GMTCM Park housed 238 enterprises, including 85 Macao enterprises, engaged in traditional Chinese medicine, biomedicine, medical devices, healthcare services, support services, and more, making it the most developed big health industrial park with the most solid infrastructure and the highest level of industrial agglomeration on Hengqin Island.
Hengqin-Macao Innovation Industrial Park (Big Health Industrial Park)
Covering an area of 116,400 square metres with a construction area of approximately 400,000 square metres, the Hengqin-Macao Innovation Industrial Park (Big Health Industrial Park) is strategically focused on traditional Chinese medicine, food, health supplements, biomedicine, medical devices, etc.
