Launched in April 2011 in Hengqin, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (GMTCM Park) was the first project implemented under the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao. Covering an area of 500,000 square metres with a planned construction area of 1.35 million square metres, the GMTCM Park has attracted an investment of RMB 8 billion. It is now home to a variety of facilities, including hotels, a commercial street, a museum, office buildings, drug production and testing centres, and extraction facilities. By the end of November 2024, the GMTCM Park housed 238 enterprises, including 85 Macao enterprises, engaged in traditional Chinese medicine, biomedicine, medical devices, healthcare services, support services, and more, making it the most developed big health industrial park with the most solid infrastructure and the highest level of industrial agglomeration on Hengqin Island.
